What happened to Elisa Lam at the Cecil Hotel?
For years, I strongly believed that something really weird and otherworldly took place at the Cecil Hotel. After all, it was and still is an infamous place where serial killers such as Richard Ramirez or Jack Unterweger have spent their nights, people have killed themselves and one woman apparently had thrown her newborn baby out the window. So it seemed likely that the evil ghosts of the past had haunted Elisa (who was mentally ill and therefore maybe a little more vulnerable to the paranormal) and she didn’t know what to do or where to hide and this led to her death.But what if she wasn't hallucinating? If it wasn't supernatural? Let’s analyze the incident from a real criminal investigative perspective. Here's my two cents on what happened, based on the well-known elevator video footage:
1. She tried to get the elevator to work and pushed a lot of buttons
2. She wasn't sure why nothing happened and became confused
3. She checked to see if someone was pushing a button from outside to prank her
4. She tried to explain to someone (in an odd manner with weird gestures) that the lift was malfunctioning
5. That particular „someone“/„he" realized she was maybe a little bit confused due to her mental illness
6. He, taking advantage of her mental state, persuaded her into going up onto the roof
7. He suggested to go „for a swim" and to have some fun
8. Trustingly she hopped into the water tank, not realizing it was not a swimming pool and extremely dangerous
9. He then left her to die and disappeared
Additionally, look very closely at her body language! Looks strange? Not when you speed the video up to 1.5 or 2! Suddenly her movements aren’t so wild anymore. She almost looks playful. AND! When she squeezes into the corner of the elevator SHE SMILES!!! You can even see a tiny dimple! So, NO WAY was she scared for her life at that point. I’m 100% convinced that she talked to someone. To her killer probably!
Of course, I don’t know who it was. But I guess it could have been someone working there, hotel staff, maintenance or so. Who else would have known how to get on top of the roof and how to avoid being filmed by CCTV. Someone tampered with the video material, it’s slowed down and made extra blurry to hide that she was communicating or playing with someone.
I've thought a lot about this case in the past few years but this is, at least in my mind, what probably took place there.
And whoever the filthy rat is that left her there to die, I hope he has the worst nightmares for the rest of his life!
